Nero Burning ROM is a time-tested app that allows you undertake whatever media creation you need. With it, you can burn CDs, DVDs and Blu Ray discs on your Windows PC. Nero Burning ROM can be used to create ISOs, or disk images, to optical media, including bootable copies for operating system disks. The software can also burn the high-definition Blu-Ray format, as well as its predecessor, DVD. Nero Burning ROM also supports AVCHD, a format developed primarily for camcorders.

Setup

Before the main install program started there was an option to install the ASK browser toolbar, which was turned down. The main program itself installed without any issues though did take quite a long time to install, with lots of separate installs required for the supporting programs, including the Nero Control Center and Update Service.

Disc burning

Once you start to use the program you can see why Nero is so popular, especially amongst advanced users. There is a wide variety of options and settings available from selecting the type of disc you want to burn, to the settings controlling every aspect of how to burn it.

The disc options available are:

CD-ROM - CD-ROM (ISO), Audio CD, Mixed Mode CD, CD Extra, CD Copy, CD-ROM (Boot), CD-ROM (UDF), CD-ROM (UDF/ISO), CD-ROM (SecurDisc), Nero DiscSpan (UDF).

DVD-ROM - DVD-ROM (ISO), DVD Copy, DVD-Video, AVCHD(TM) video, DVD-ROM (Boot), DVD-ROM (UDF), DVD-ROM (UDF/ISO), DVD-ROM (SecureDisc). Nero DiscSpan (UDF).

Blu-ray - Blu-ray (ISO), Blu-ray (UDF), BDMV-Video, AVCHD(TM) video, Blu-ray (SecureDisc), Nero DiscSpan (UDF).

System Requirements for Nero Burning ROM
